Your camcorder should contain two zoom measurements—one for optical zoom and one for digital zoom.

Ignore the digital zoom number, and digital zoom simply blows up a section of your image without adding more detail. You’re better off avoiding it.

Instead, pay attention to the optical zoom amount, since this is the measure of the physical lens itself.
