HDTV stands for High-Definition Television. It gives you a wider screen, better picture quality, and improved sound.
Widescreen
Non-HDTV programs are aired in a 4:3 format. HDTV screens allow a 16:9 format. This means you will get to see the program as it is filmed, instead of cutting off a third of the picture.
Picture Quality
HDTV is ten times sharper than normal TV.
Sound
Most TV programs have Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. This is much clearer than stereo sound.
