Speaking of sound, this model can record sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. When you look at the top of the camcorder, you see 4 separate microphone areas that are spread over a very small area (about 2 inches).
It also felt comfortable in my hand and the large 3.5 inch wide LCD touch screen was vibrant and easy to use. I was really hooked on the touch screen. Professionals frown upon touch screens, but I'm not trying to be a pro. To me, the touch screen was super convenient.
As many of you are probably aware, most camcorders allow you to shoot still images. However, this model allows me to freeze time in the middle of shooting and take a digital still image. This was a really neat feature.

Other features include image stabilization, which becomes even more important when shooting in HD because those little jitters and hand trembles can be more easily noticed with the higher resolution; a 10x optical zoom; a 4 megapixel digital still camera; a one touch button to switch between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios for shooting; and the NightShot Infrared feature that helps you capture better video when shooting in low light.
