Custom Remote Controls

The most advanced remote controls are complete systems, typically set up and configured by a professional installer, that are programmed for your specific home theater system. These systems go beyond simple sending of infrared signals to total control of all your system components.

A custom remote system typically consists of two main parts, the system controller and the control processor. The system controller is the remote control unit, consisting of a set of buttons or a personalized touchscreen; this device can be either wired or wireless. The control processor receives the signals from the system controller, routes them to the appropriate components, and monitors feedback from the components regarding their current operating status; all your components are connected to the processor, and thus controlled through the processor.

The advantage of a custom remote system is the capability of controlling any combination of devices anywhere in your house. The disadvantage, of course, is cost and effort -- you'll definitely need the services of a professional installer to get one of these puppies up and running!
