Your Media Center PC needs access to the Internet, to download song information, update the Electronic Program Guide, and retrieve necessary Windows updates.

You can connect your Media Center PC to your network via either Ethernet or WiFi -- that is, either wired or wireless. A wireless connection is, in almost all instances, physically easier to accomplish because you don't have any cables to run. An Ethernet connection, however, is faster and more reliable, both of which are desirable qualities if you're viewing video or television programming stored elsewhere on the network. For downloading album art and sharing digital photos, however, a wireless connection works just fine. Make your choice accordingly.
