Do I Need a New Memory Card When Mine is Full?

The pictures you take with your digital camera are stored on a memory card, which is a type of flash memory device. Depending on the storage capacity of your card -- measured in either megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB) -- you can store dozens, hundreds or even thousands of photos on a single card.

But a memory card is meant for temporary storage. For long-term storage, you should transfer your digital photos from the memory card to your computer's hard disk. When your memory card fills up with pictures, you don't have to buy a new memory card. Simply transfer the pictures from the memory card to your PC and then delete the old pictures from the memory card. When your old photos are deleted, all that storage space is freed up for you to use for new photos.
