What do laptops need to get the Internet?

Most laptop computers should have both built-in wireless WiFi networking and Ethernet connections, so you don’t need to buy anything else for your PC. You will need to have an Internet connection from your Internet service provider (ISP), of course.

If you have broadband Internet service, your ISP will provide a cable or DSL modem. You can connect this modem directly to your laptop, typically via USB or Ethernet, or connect it to a network router if you have a home network set up. If your network is wireless, you laptop can connect to the Internet via the WiFi connection.

If your network is wired, you can connect an Ethernet cable from your laptop to your router, and access the Internet that way. Lots of options!
