Features of Windows Vista Sidebar

Windows Vista is a new operating system. It uses more images and icons (which are called gadgets in Vista), similar to Macs. The feature I really like is the sidebar.

The sidebar is on the right side of the screen. It is visible on both widescreen and standard monitors. Vista allows you to move any gadgets (not standard icons, only gadget "icons") there to enhance your computer experience. What I really like about the Vista sidebar gadgets is that they are larger than toolbar icons and live. What do I mean by "live"? These gadgets automatically update themselves with new information. For example, the AOL Mail & AIM Gadget will tell you how many new e-mails you have and if anyone is contacting you by AIM. This is visible from the gadget, without clicking on it.

Please see Microsoft's Vista page for more information about sidebars and gadgets.
