How to Receive HD Radio Broadcasts

Some manufacturers of automotive audio equipment offer add-on HD Radio modules that can connect to many of their existing car stereos. Others, such as Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, and Panasonic, offer complete car stereo systems with HD Radio reception built in. For example, JVC's KD-HDR1 is an in-dash unit that functions as both a CD player and a radio. It receives HD Radio broadcasts and multicasts, and sells for $199.99. And, if you're a BMW owner, look for HD Radio as an option on new 5-, 6-, and 7-series cars.
For the home, HD Radio tabletop radios and component tuners are available from Audio Design Acoustics, Boston Acoustics, Cambridge SoundWorks, Day Sequerra, Denon, Integra, Niles, Onkyo, Polk Audio, RadioShack, Radiosophy, Rotel, and Sangean. Several of these manufacturers also offer audio/video receivers with optional HD Radio receiver modules. For example, Boston Acoustics' popular Recepter Radio HD is a two-piece stereo tabletop system. It includes a built-in alarm clock and separate satellite speaker, and can receive HD Radio broadcasts and multicasts. It sells for $299.99
