Connecting a Portable Music Player to a PC

Most portable music players connect to your PC with a USB cable. Connect one end of the cable to your PC, and the other end to your music player. It's that simple.

Some older Apple iPods also had the option of connecting via FireWire, which transfers digital data a little faster than USB. This is no longer an option with newer models.

When you connect your player to your PC, it should automatically launch the manufacturer's music player software program. This is what you use to transfer music from your PC to your music player.

Connecting your player may also, depending on the player, recharge its batteries. Some players recharge via USB, and others require connection to an AC adapter and power outlet to recharge.
